We're Competing with PRIME Day! We're having PEACE week!! Join us!
Any purchase this week (July 7-11) on our site will come with a free fabric lined zipper pouch! Remember, these are our specialty products made with small portions of fabric sold by ladies on the street. Each bag is particularly unique.
We realized that we were cutting out the women when we grew enough to buy bolts of fabric, so to keep the small vendors with a livelihood, we continue to support them by buying their unique pieces of fabric that may just be a couple of meters or even just a partial meter.
We encourage you to buy something for yourself, and give the free gift away, spreading peace. Here are a few ideas:
- Anonymously leave it on the desk of a colleague who might need a boost, putting a message inside that someone cares.
- Write a note to someone you appreciate but maybe have never told them. Give them the note in the pouch so they can remember your appreciation each time they use it.
- Leave your tip in it for a particularly friendly wait staff when you go out to eat.
- If you have the means, put a gas card inside and give to a family dealing with medical issues needing to drive often to doctor appointments.
- Cut out a cartoon from the real paper (it's nice to touch things and not only digital memes sometimes).... put it inside, and share with someone who needs a smile in their day.
- Fill it with healthy snacks or essential items (toothbrush, toothpaste) to share with someone you meet on the street who is unhoused - show them dignity, ask them their name, and call them by it if you see them again.
- Add a few ladies products inside and celebrate with a young woman just starting her period. Remind her the beauty of womanhood!
- Put a small toy inside (and a note of encouragement for the mom) and randomly share with a struggling mom at the grocery when her kiddo is having a tantrum in the cart. No judgment, just a distraction for the little one and some solidarity for the mom.
- Enjoy your food at a restaurant? Put in a note of thanks, and a tip, and ask your wait staff to give it to the cook.... they seldom get accolades.
- Do you frequent a local place (post office, gas station, dollar general, YMCA) and see the same employee who is consistently there? Give them the pouch and thank them for making your day brighter by being a consistent person in your life.
The options of sharing peace in a hurting world are ENDLESS..... add your own, and write to us to share about your story. We can't wait to post about our "Peace Week" blessings that you shared with the world.
We have kept
water bags from polluting the ocean and the air..... and counting
Who is PeaceCYCLE?
PeaceCYCLE is a start-up small business which aims to educate and employ persons in Haiti, promoting eco-friendly practices, and empowering individuals and families to be self-sufficient.
We desire to be the human side of “upcycling” (a term referring to the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality and to create a better environment). The “upcycle” term was initially coined by Riner Pilz in reference to a demolition recycling directive. “Recycling? I call it downcycling. They smash bricks, they smash everything. What we need is upcycling- where old products are given more value, not less.”
This is exactly the goal of PeaceCYCLE on a human level… to give MORE value to persons, not less. Due to lack of employment opportunities, many people are forced into scenarios in which they are belittled, mistreated, abused, and demoralized in an effort to support their family. We have a passion here at PeaceCYCLE to change that, our focus is not on the bottom line; rather, we desire to empower and educate the unemployed and help them rise to new standards of living, and achieve a new peace in their own self-reliance.
PeaceCYCLE aims to create dignified employment for persons who might otherwise not have the opportunity for such. Through the upcycling of old, discarded material resources within the culture, PeaceCYCLE creatively empowers locals to be inspired that beautiful things can be created out of what was once seen with little value. We hope to instill in each employee that same understanding within themselves … who once saw their own life as one with little value, we hope to create pride and confidence, while restoring dignity as a child of God who can stand proudly to support their own family.
Our desire at PeaceCYCLE is also to increase awareness in developed nations, one person at a time, of the plight of their brothers and sisters around the world. We aspire to reach individuals through personal conversation that is initiated by viewing our creative and unique products.
